Unschooling, The Underutilized Education
Greetings from the web!
This poem is about a type of learning that is set to the wayside because not a lot of people can wrap their heads around it. This poem is about unschooling.
It’s been given a bad name
Unschooling and dawdling are not the same
When your natural curiosity is in overdrive
You are not allowed to self educate at the age of five
Years zoom by swiftly, and your curiosity is lost to time
What’s worse is that trying to recover your curiosity can be a crime
Some regions and countries strangle free choice
This does not allow free spirits to rejoice
It’s called unschooling, the underutilized education
Energy and passion is best spent at a young age
When you’re forced to bottle it up, it can transform into rage
A young mind is always read to learn and the process can be accelerated
Motivation and curiosity are limbs that need to be regenerated
They think they can grow a pumpkin seed in the desert
But, of course, it needs a nicer environment and higher quality dirt
Provide the right conditions with unschooling, the underutilized education
A lot of learning can be done
With less force, it can even be fun
We should encourage the young to use their natural gifts
It’s an effort to reduce familiar rifts
Personally, I wish I could have unschooled eons ago
There would be so many extra things I would know
It doesn’t holt progress, it accelerates it
It can create create minds that are fit
It’s known as unschooling, the underutilized education
Learning can be exciting, stimulating, not a bore
Learning can be fulfilling and rejuvenating, not a chore
Is there a need for so much structure?
Why leave it undone? Why not carve out a better sculpture?
Become a person who is better educated and in tune with the self
A person lives for oneself
Not to satisfy the wishes of others
We don’t live for them whether they are teachers, brothers, or mothers
Have a mind filled with knowledge and a heart devoid of fear
Our lives are the vehicles we steer
Unschooling, the underutilized education
